From 2023 Essex Redbacks Baseball club has merged with Essex Arrows Baseball Club to form one of the biggest Baseball Clubs in the country. This now gives our club a wide coverage of the majority of Essex in which we aim to grow even further.  Essex Baseball are a Sport England Club Mark Accredited club with adult baseball teams based in Chelmsford, Waltham Abbey, and adult and youth teams based in Billericay, Essex, with three permanent permanent Baseball diamonds and backstops for junior and senior baseball. For the 2023 season Essex Baseball are fielding four senior teams in the BBF leagues. They compete in the British Baseball Federation (BBF) NBL, Triple A (AAA) league, AA and the Single-A South league.

The Redbacks name will live on forever though. Each of the Adult teams will eventually have their own Essex name with the Redbacks staying with the single A team and youth. NBL are Arrows. AAA may be Saxons for the 2024 season. AA are Archers.

The senior teams are for players aged 16 upwards. In 2012, the AAA team were runners-up in the National Final, and in 2014, the AAA team again made the playoffs. Our youth program caters for ages 5 to 16 (boys and girls) and we have three teams competing within the Little League and British Baseball Federation championships. Under 10 years (Minors), known as the “Little Redbacks” 10-12 years (Majors) 12-15 years (Juniors) Our youth teams also compete in the BBF South Youth leagues with ages up to 16 years. In 2013, the under 14 team were runners-up in the BBF national championship and in 2011 came 3rd in the same competition. In 2015 our U10 Little Redbacks were runners up at the Youth NBC.

Essex Baseball warmly welcome players of all ages and abilities whether starting to play baseball for the first time or highly experienced, and we are actively seeking new players for our senior and youth baseball teams. We also run schools and outreach sessions, so if you’re interested in bringing baseball to your school, College or youth group, get in touch and we can arrange tailored training sessions or help coordinate coaching qualifications. We also have a fantastic volunteering programme and in recent years members have won national accolades for coaching and for supporting the growth and publicity of the sports.
