The Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme aims to enable schools, colleges and youth organisations to recognise, reward and celebrate the achievements of their young people. Jack Petchey wants young people to raise their aspirations, believe in themselves and make a contribution to their society. Redbacks Baseball & Softball encourage young people to reach their potential and have participated in the Jack Petchey Award scheme since 2011.
Achievement Awards are designed to recognise a wide range of achievement. It is not just about being clever, or gifted, but about putting the effort in and doing your best. The scheme works well because young people themselves are involved in nominating and selecting the winners.
Each award winner is voted for by their own peers. Members of the club between the ages of 11 and 25 years old are eligible to vote and be voted for.
The club has been accepted onto the Bronze Award scheme where three £200 awards are voted on each year.
The winner of each award receives a framed certificate and pin badge, and they can chose how the £200 is spent to benefit the club. Award winners are also invited to an annual awards ceremony.
